At this age and in this period of time, i feel like we are Constantly trying to live other people's lives; trying to be Them; comparing ourselves to them; obsessing over them! The list goes on...
We are caught in a social media sandstorm and the scary thing is... most People don't know it.
I suppose in such an era, it can only be expected that we should spend hours watching people on youtube, Obsessing over their lives and often forgetting about our own.
But what happens when you finally put down your phone after several hours of scrolling thorugh instagram accounts, becoming engrossed in vLogs on youtube and tapping through millions of snapchat stories?
We're forced back into our own flawed, imperfect lives. And that image of these "social sensAtions'" lives are still engrained in our minDs. When you see the things you dislike about your life, compared to the bRight, filtered lives of insta famous giRls - life seems a little greyer.
Of course this is going to lead to mental health problems. Is it really a surprise that more people are depressed today than have ever been before, when we spend an average four hours a day on social media, seeing these "pereect" lives? Four hours. Every. Day.
So i dare you.
I dare you to put down your phone.
Next time you find yourself thinking, why am i really watching zoella's Forty minute vlogs? Or what am i gAining by listening to meredith foster ramble on about how she does yoga every single morning? THEN PUT IT AWAY!
Become involved in your own life! You don't want to look back on your life, when you're on your death bed and realise you sPent all your free time watching other people lead these huge, fanTastic lives.
Do it yourseLf!
