The gifts are wrapped; the cookies are cooling off; the fridge is packed to bursting and the stockings are hanging still above the glow of the fire.
It's Christmas Eve!
As you lay down to sleep tonight, millions and millions of children will be trying to squeeze their eyes shut, as the magic of Christmas flows over them like stardust; the anticipation of the next morning almost too much to bear.
But amongst all the excitement and apprehension of the day to come, remember those who are not as lucky. Keep in mind those who will awake the next morning to an empty house, an empty stomach or an empty heart. Be generous, be kind and be loving. Reflect on your blessings and be grateful.
As I have grown older its become more and more apparent to me the insignificance of the gift itself. Presents are not about getting more stuff; they are about the joy on the persons face when they open it; the warm feeling that bubbles up inside you when you realise how well someone knows you; the burst of escaped laughter as you realise how much they don't. Presents are about love. Just like everything at Christmas is.
Look around you. Love is everywhere this Christmas.
So from Yours Sincerely, I wish you the merriest and most joyful Christmas yet.
Yours sincerely x
