Since my birthday is just a couple of days away as I’m writing this, (but it’s probably over by the time I publish this), I’ve decided to share the wisdom that I’ve gained during this amazing, roller coaster ride of a year being 16!
1. It’s ok to be happy to be yourself
2. Things happen that look terrible at the time, but a lot of the time they end up becoming something beautiful, or allowing room for something better in your life.
3. Don’t regret anything that made you feel happy. I’ve lost friends this year, but I don’t regret that I was ever friends with them because we have some amazing memories and all o can do is learn from it.
4. It’s easier to make friends that you think; people are often just as willing to make more friends as you are!
5. If it’s meant to be, it will be.
6. Life is about living as many happy moments as you possibly can.
7. Journaling is one of the best therapies.
8. You shouldn’t be afraid to try new things
9. It’s ok to skip a day of revision.
10. Don’t let other peoples opinions dictate decisions you make for your future.
11. Living in the moment is one of the most important things; time disappears way to quickly.
12. Act on things that pull at your heart.
13. Trust your instincts
14. Do what makes you come alive.
15. Forgive people, to free yourself, even if they don’t deserve it.
16. Life’s pretty good.
So as some of you may know more my Instagram posts, I
turned 17 this week!! This is a year I’ve been looking forward to for ages, as
it means I can start learning how to drive, go to my formal and I can even get
into some nightclubs using my own ID!
I never expect any much from my birthdays m, but every
year I’m surprised! I didn’t do anything much this year, but going out for
lunch with my family and coming home to a few bowls of sweets and a cake, make
it so special!
I received such lovely, thoughtful presents and I even got a card from my mums hairdresser!
I can’t wait for this year ahead; I’ve got so much
planned! I’m travelling to Manchester (my first trip away without any adults!)
and Cambodia (stayed tuned for some amazing pics!) and I’ve got my formal! I’m
definitely planning on getting my drivers listened this year, even if I don’t
have enough for a car, I just love going out for lessons even from my daddy!
I always find on birthdays, I end up reminiscing on my life. And I couldn’t be happier with all the memories I’ve made. I’ve travelled far and wide, I’ve done crazy things like jump into loughs and cycling as far as I can with my friends for hours! I’ve made amazing friends, I’ve worked hard for my exams, I’ve seen two of the seven wonders of the world, I have my own blog! I can now even say I’ve owned cows! Such a random thing, but it seems cool!
I’m so excited to be 17, ad I can’t wait to share my
year with you!
DDon’t worry; I’m not dead!
I haven’t been kidnapped or abducted by aliens!!
Nothing has happened to me and I have no excuse for being so absent from
YourWorld, other than I have been utterly exhausted the past few weeks.
I wish I had a better excuse, but I’ve just been so
low on motivation and energy; but I’m back! And ready to spill my inner-self to
all of you YourWorlds. But speaking of exhaustion, there’s no better topic to
I don’t know if all teenagers feel like this; if it’s
because our bodies are putting so much energy into growing or school is so
intense these days, but all the time I seem to exhausted. And I hate it.
I recently watched a video on YouTube about a man who
was imprisoned in the Auschwitz , and lived to tell the tale. His motto for
life was to have as many happy moments as possible.
I thought it was the most simple and perfect way to
sum of life and I decided I wanted to follow that motto also.
So this week, that’s exactly what I’ve done. I went on
a mountain climb in the middle of the night, went on long walks, read amazing
books, shopped in the city, done some of the best workouts and of course,
inevitably, caught up on school work. I’ll include some photos from my
So that’s what I’ve been up to! Just wanted to pop in, mid-week for a quick catchup and I’ll be back with my usual blog on Sunday!!
P.S. comment below if you’d like me to go into more
detail on any of the things I mentioned today! All my love <3
(That was a dramatic sigh for those who didn’t get it).
What a week.
Do you ever feel like a “HUH!” is the only way to describe it a hectic week? Because I do. Being a teenager, and it being 7 weeks to my first A-level exam ever, (the countdown is a courtesy from my English Teacher), I am exhausted.
I’ve had such a busy week! Although everything I’ve done has been so productive and I feel so satisfied that I’ve checked all these things off my to do list! I’ve collected money for a charity trip I’m taking to Asia (more to come on that!); I’ve attended Future 18’s Teen Hackathon and learnt all about how I can improve this lovely little website for you reading this; I’ve started revising for that ever closer lurking exam; and I’ve just about managed to keep up with my homework.
Now hopefully you can see the justification in my HUH!
But you didn’t click into this blog to read about my exhausting week. No, instead I’m going to treat you with a little advice on making your own week productive!
This week I watched a very resonating YouTube video on the channel 8 Passengers. They are the most adorable family and I’ve been watching them for probably a year now! But this week Ruby (the mother) gave me exactly the right advice I was looking for at the time; and of course I have to share it with you!
She basically explained that she had been in a rut; a “February Funk” as she put it. I often feel like this myself, like I have no motivation and can’t be bothered to do anything even though work seems to be piling up around me. To combat her own funk, she realised she needed to create a balance between Work and Creating, and Rest and Consuming.
If you find yourself lacking any motivation to do anything productive, then it’s probably because you have ran yourself out.
One of the most productive things you can do (although it seems ironic) is to let yourself rest and consume. Especially if what you do required a lot of creativity. Rest; take a bath, paint your nails, have a nap. Consume; watch some videos, have some energising food, buy yourself a new skirt!
I think this balance is a necessary one, and one that’s often forgotten or over looked. But that’s what I’m here for; to remind you!
So I hope you can implement this little piece of advice this week. It certainly helped me!
Tonight I come to you full of inspiration from Connor Franta’s book Note To Self and motivation from a long needed day off school (thanks to the great Beast from the East!).
Sometimes I get frustrated that things in my life aren’t going the way I want them to and while I was waiting for my bus one morning I decided that the only way to get over these small rough patches in my life is to take each thing that I don’t like about my life, individually and mould it into something that makes me happy. But don’t get me wrong, my life is great, on the most part. I have friends I love, a family who I’m so close to, as much food as I want, great opportunities and I’m as healthy as most teenagers are. I’m not trying to complain that I have it hard, but no matter how good your life is, there will always be parts you’re so crazy about. And I want to try and change that...even if just a little.
But this isn’t just for me; it’s for you to! So right now as I’m doing this I would love you to do it to, that is, if you find yourself dwelling at any time, on the not-so-perfect aspects of your own life.
So first make a list. Write down all the things your grateful for and happy about in your life. For me that would probably be:
These are just the top five, I could really go on forever! But now that’s your feeling grateful and appreciative, make another list. This time of the times you don’t enjoy in your life. It can be as simple as the person you talk to in the bus or how untidy your room usually is, or as big as your fitness or your mindset. Whatever it is though, don’t make it vague. Make it specific.
Now look at each thing individually and write down how you could change it. For example, if you don’t like going to French, decide to sit beside someone new; decide to study French for 15 minutes every morning; decide to participate and listen in class. Now the only thing left to do is to put your goals into action.
I really hoped this helped, and I’ll keep you updated on the things that I’m changing my own life! For now,
I have a million different kinds of friendships throughout my 16 years on the planet. And I don’t know whether or not that qualifies me to give you advice on how to depict the real ones and the fake ones but I’m going to anyway!
Forming friendships is something I’ve struggled with, revelled in, cried over, laughed about and sometimes done without even realising it! I have had loads of different friends, with completely different personalities; some I have maintained a strong bond with right up to today, others I have let fade away, and other friendships have ended abruptly.
But let’s start from the beginning…
I was enrolled in a tiny primary school in the middle of the countryside, which meant that there weren’t a lot of friends available. There were only six other girls in my class. That and the fact that I was as terribly shy, meant that I was mainly friends with one girl. She and I have never spoken since the day we parted ways, to go to our separate secondary schools. It’s ironic that one of the girls I was only partly friends with ended up being the only girl I talked to and met up with (even if it was only a few times) after leaving primary school. But primary school friendships are often shallow, seeing as most of us haven’t really discovered our own personality yet. So it’s not strange that none of them have lasted.
As I progressed through secondary school, I have had countless different best friends, but thankfully have been blessed with two I finally can be fully myself with, have fun with, being serious with and hopefully will be friends with until I’m old.
One thing I have learnt from numerous friendships, is that your friends can influence you in extremely negative ways, perhaps without you even realising it. They can shape you into someone that’s far from the real you. Especially when you’re at such a vulnerable age as a young teenager. If you suddenly find yourself doing things that aren’t you, or you’re stuck in a place in your life that you don’t want to be, look around the friendships you have. If you’re surrounded by negative people, you’re doing to be constantly stuck in a depressing mindset. I know it can be scary cutting friendships away, but you have to put your mental health first. I promise, it will end up alright!
Recently I have lost a friend that has been so close to me for years. The only real reason being that we have both changed. It was hard for me to let go of this friendship at first; I kept remembering all the happy memories we had. But the person she is now, isn’t the person in those memories. I have accepted that now. I don’t regret our friendship; in fact, I’m so grateful that it existed. And although we don’t talk anymore, I know if she ever needed me I would be there for her. But for now, we have gone our separate ways and I’m at peace with that fact.
One of my best friends today, I have only been friends with for two and a half years, yet our bond is stronger than most friendships I have had for years! Although she may not ever read this, I am so grateful for all the laughter we have shared over things no one else would understand; for the late hours into the nights we have talked about the things that worry us; for simply being there for me. She so talented and if anyone talked to her for five minutes they would know she was destined for great things. I am so proud to be her friend, and I know that we will still be going to mass together when we’re 70 and meeting up for tea in our favourite cafes.
I feel like sometimes minor disagreements can come between friends, but after a long talk with my amazing mother one night, I realised that we just needed a little bonding time together away from the worries of school life. If you ever feel a friendship that’s so important to you, begin to slip, take a step back with them; do something as simple as seeing a movie or meeting up for dinner together and you will see your friendship strengthen and flourish.
My friendship with the beautiful, talented and amazing Tea and a Read started unsteadily. We fell out and didn’t talk for years before forming the strong friendship we have today. Hers is a friendship that I am grateful for everyday; our personalities click perfectly. She has inspired me in ways she will never know, and we have infiltrated our friendship into our creation; Your World. To me, she feels like a sister. We have stayed at each other’s houses for four or five days in a row and felt completely at home.
It still amazes me how there are 7 billion people in the world and I have found two perfect best friends.
You may or may not have picked up on the extremely vague title of this blog.
If you have then i suppose it’s clear that i have no idea what you’re going To be reading about below.
But i heard from a little bIrdy that you would like to see even more personal content on my blog and so this is what you’ll get.
I lOve to plunge into the deep ends of conversations that make you feel like you can change the world. The other day me and my two best frieNds did exactly this. The Setting for these kinds of talks vary, but yestErdays happened to be on a rattly old bus in the pitch black of night.
I could go on and on for ages About the things we talked abOut and so i’ll continue my chat with you.
Do you ever want to just be in chaRge of the world for even a day, just so you can sort things out and pit them straight? I do! I always find mYself wondering how i could fix all the terrible things in the world and i alWays come to the same conclusion; i need to take over everything.
If i even had an hour! What would you do? I would Spend every penny that every gOvernment in the world Spends on war and use to build watrt systems, schools, houses and hospitals in less economically developed countries. Then i would make the Number one priority in every country to spread love. I would change school ciriculums to learn about thIngs that inspire young people; sPace, equality, the earth, inspirational historical events, music, the ocean, aRt, mental health as well as physIcal. I would scrap GCSES and ALEVELS and teach them about loveand accEptance and what theY’re heart calls them to learn.
Are you still there? I’m getting a lIttle carried away, but you get the point.
I would focus on love and abandon hate. Right now in a waR, an innocent man has been shot by another innocent man. They have told they’re too different to exist in the same world togEther. They ahve a different religion, a different colour of skin. What they don’t know is that maybe had this war not existed, they may have ran into eachother In a small record shop and Found out they loved the same band; they had the same favourite book; they were passionate about the same sport.
We are not as different as we’Re told.
This blog haS came from thE deepest corner of my mind and i don’t even know If it will make any sense to a Stranger reading this, but i’ve really enjoyed writing it. If you take anything from this; spread love.
Knowlegde is the remedy for Ignorance.
Hope is the remedy for fear.
Love is the remedy for hate.
Yours sincerely x
Tonight, as i was wondering what to delve into For this weeks blog, i began realising you don’t really know that much about me! And i love finding out things about people so i thought why not give you an insight into the real yours sincerely ! 🍃🌻
That’s why this week i’ve come up with five things that you don’t know about me! Some, you may have guessed from previous blogs! If you thought any of these things these about me before this, make sure and leave a comment below and i’ll Definitly reply :)
So i give you, yours sincerely...
I have fallen in love with painting and drawing and SkEtchIng, and i can’t imagine my life without it! Even when i was only six or seven i used to copy pictures out of colouring books and give my own personal spin on them! Every inch of wall in my room was covered in these drawiNgs; i thought i was picasso!
Now, i’ve progressed to doing A-Level art, and although sOmetimes it can be stressful, i love seeing how much ive learnt in the space of a few Weeks!
i’m not the most sporty person, Even thoUgh i love keeping fit and getting stronger! I always thought i was weak and Clumsy At sports when i was in primary school, but looking back, when the only sport we actualLy played was football, of course i was going to think that! But it didnt take me long coming out of primary school to realIse that there were so many more sporting oPportunities for me to try! In second year i bEgan swimming and i’ve developed a passion for it! I also lOve running, although i’ve got out of the habit of it!
You might think its a little strange that i would be doing both art and physics for a level and love them equally, but i Am always amazed at the things i learn in physics class. Exploring the sciEnce behind our beautiful earth has always intrigued me and at a level even more so, as we can now study it in more detail. Right now i want to go on to study physics at university and hopefully one day call myself a quaLified physiCist!
The dawn of youtube has deFinitly encouraged me to undertake this lIfe goal! I can’t Imagine anyone could watch the bucketlIst family and not want to follow in their footstePs! My family has always put travelling near the top of our priority list and i will Always be grateful for that! In the 16 years i’ve existed i’ve travelled to China, florida, iTaly, spain, bulGaria, england, scotland, fraNce and germany! I cant wait to add cambodia to that list after this summer!
ever since i was Seven and wrOte my first CompleteD Short story “the green Sheets” i Have wanted to become an author. I love exploring my own imagination through wRiting stories and reading all the amazing NOvels out there only insPires me more! I have so many ideas for stories and i want to have time to write them all! But i’m promising you (and myself) right now that i will be able to call myself an author some day.
These past couple of weeks, something has clicked in me; something has changed and with it, almost every aspect of my life. This is the thing that decides whether or not you enjoy your day, whether or not positive things happen to you- your mindset.
A couple of weeks before Christmas, I was beginning to get so stressed and frustrated over insignificant things to the point where I wasn’t enjoying the season. I can actually pinpoint the moment I decided to stop worrying and just let whatever happens, happen. My family and I were putting up the tree, but I didn’t like it and the perfectionist side of me wanted to change the decorations and just do it myself. I began to get so annoyed about it that I just sat down and asked myself, Why does it matter?. In two years, or even two months I won’t care in the slightest. Christmas doesn’t revolve around everything being perfect. So instead I looked for the positive things about that imperfect tree and what I saw was even better than a perfectly decorated tree; it was my family all helping each other and smiling and singing along to the Christmas songs floating off my phone.
This Christmas was the Christmas I decided to let things be. I didn’t stress over keeping up old family traditions, because that Christmas didn’t need to be exactly like the previous one for it to be great. I did new things and it ended up being the best one yet! I even stood for two hours collecting money for charity at a roundabout and it made me feel amazing.
But I digress! The point of this blog is to show you how a simple change in mindset can give you the best 2018 you could possibly have!.
I feel that everyone has such a positive mindset about achieving their goals and resolutions at the start of January, but as the year progresses, our motivation does not. So, I have come up with a few ideas to help you maintain a positive mindset this entire year.
The first is to write down three main goals that you want to achieve (not resolutions-goals! Things you can check off!). Now look at those three goals and think about each one; thinking about how you’re going to achieve it and all the work you’re willing to put in, and how happy you’ll be when you are able to check it off. Now put it in an envelope and seal it. Put it somewhere you will see everyday; maybe on you’re window sill, on a bookshelf or on a cork board. Everytime you see it, you’ll be able to think about those goals and get a little burst of motivation; just enough to take another step towards it. Then on the 31st December 2018, you can open it and tick off those three goals. Not only will this give you motivation to complete these goals but you’ll be able to see just how far you’ve come this year!
Another idea, is to create a vision board! If you haven’t already, make sure to read Tea&aRead’s blog on Vision Boarding! She explains the purpose of them so well and shows you how to make the perfect one!
My last tip is to let go of all your grudges. It may sound stupid, but you can’t enter a new year and expect to have a positive mindset if you’re constantly holding onto negative thoughts about someone. I know this can be so hard, but you have to remember that by holding onto negative past experiences all you’re doing is damaging your own mental state. I’m not saying to be friends with them, but for your own peace of mind, let go.
So that sums up my blog for this Sunday! Really, I could go on about this topic forever, but to avoid crashing this website, I won’t!! But if you do want to see more blogs like this, leave a comment down below or on our Instagram and I definitely will! Hope this helped!
Yours Sincerely x
